Carvin was founded as its recent iteration in 1949. L.C. Kiesel renamed the company after his sons Carson and Gavin, hence "Carvin". This particular guitar is from 1960, a time when Carvin was well versed in a number of different guitar styles and had practiced the use of plastics in guitars for sometime. The bridge and pickup housing are excellent examples of Carvin's well applied plastics. The AP-6 single coil pickups are excellent pickups and translate the sound of the all maple body and neck. This guitar's simplistic design has just enough going on to make it exceptionally cool. In an era of peak guitar production from some of the worlds leading builders, Carvin produced guitars like this one that do not show up very often, and even more rarely in this condition. There is a cigarette burn on the headstock, a replaced bone nut, and the strap button was moved. Other than those minimal changes, the guitar is all original and in excellent condition.
