The Ampeg V4 is a stalwart example of American amplification, delivering 120 watts of power. Played by notable musicians such as Keith Richards and Josh Homme, these amps were widely used in the '70s for their versatility and large sonic footprint. Although the V4 is technically the guitar model, it works equally well for bass, with an almost identical circuit to the V4B (aside from the reverb).
Unlike Fenders and Marshalls, the V4 features an active tone stack with a powerful inductor circuit, offering excellent control over the midrange with selectable frequencies of 300Hz, 1kHz, and 3kHz. This amp shows moderate signs of previous wear but still looks great. Internally, the electrolytic caps and a couple of pots have been changed, but it’s otherwise all stock.
