With old-time folk music rising in popularity in the early 1960s, Martin wanted to offer guitarists an instrument that honored their own legacy in the genre's story. Thus, the NY models were born. A nod to the company's New York roots as well as the burgeoning folk scene in Greenwich Village, the 00-21 NY features Brazilian rosewood back and sides, an older-style 12 fret neck and no pickguard, akin to 1920s models.
This guitar is in great shape for its age, recently benefitting from a neck reset, crack repair and replacement saddle. It offers a balanced tone for a smaller body guitar, with exceptional lows from the Brazilian rosewood; it's arguably one of the most beautiful back sets out there.
Includes modern hardshell case.
