This Sampson era Clubman features the classic EF86 vox style preamp, with a 35W cathode biased power section. The master volume is very useful on these amps, and can achieve a great tone at very reasonable volumes. This amp shows minor signs of previous use, but still looks great. Nothing built in the last 30 years holds quite as much reverence as Matchless does - they've definitely earned the prestige of sitting alongside the titans of amplification, being on par with vintage Fender, Marshall, and Vox amps in terms of performance and reliability.
