From Chicago Music Exchange: "Rick Nielsen and The Chicago Music Exchange have had a strong relationship since just about the beginning. So for years we had been holding some of his guitars, one of which happened to be his very special 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard "burst". Because of an equally strong relationship with Rick Gembar at the Gibson Custom Shop, I brought up the idea of making a collector's choice of Rick's '59 Burst and they stepped right up. So I personally flew the guitar down to get scanned to go through it in detail with Edwin Wilson at Custom Shop. Months later they completed the initial prototype and I brought it up from Nashville so that Rick could come to the store and go through it. We made a video and took photos of him going over the guitar and we had so much fun that we came up with the idea to have an actual launch event! We would have Rick sign all of the 50 aged/signed guitars as well as take pics with the buyers at the store. The markings on the case are because Rick was the first person who demanded that the current cases were not correct and that they should be aged/beat up just like his original cases were! So yeah Rick was the first person to have the aged cases come to be."
