Introduced in 1991 as a homage to the renowned musician, the Gibson Herb Ellis model has remained one of Gibson's most sought-after jazz guitars. Its design pays homage to the classic 1949 ES-175, initially equipped with a single pickup until 1951. By 1971, the single pickup 175 was phased out entirely, rendering the originals exceptionally valued among jazz aficionados. This particular piece hails from the original series, featuring the integrated humbucking pickup. This guitar displays a remarkably figured maple top, back, and sides and is in great condition. It shows signs of natural wear including some surface scratches and dings here and there. This instrument stands out as a superb addition to a distinguished lineage—a fitting homage to a genuine jazz icon.
