This is Michael Spalt's first prototype of his Player's Tool design—an expertly crafted practical workhorse combined with his distinctive design style. It has a wide variety of highly usable sounds available via series/parallel options on the bridge P90 pair (as humbucker or single coils). The guitar has its own unique voice that would suit a whole range of styles from blues to metal and back again. Overall an excellent instrument that is much a piece of sculptural art as is is a bare bones gigging/recording machine.
I have played this guitar almost continuously for the four to five years since I got it. As such, there are a few light pick marks on the finish, some belt rash on the metal plate covering the electronics, and some light wear to some of the frets. Also, I have polished the finish from a satin to more of a semi-gloss. Overall the condition of the instrument is still excellent. It is currently located in the UK.
