Kevin Muiderman crafted this unusual "Prairiewood" dreadnought a couple of years ago for an art exhibition in Bismarck, North Dakota. Its ultra-lightweight redwood top was salvaged from an old railroad trestle that once crossed the Red River, while the back, sides and neck are walnut found in an old ND barn. Though the tonewoods may be uncommon for the model, with Kevin's carefully refined design and use of things like composite bracing, he's crafted a dreadnought that can pivot seamlessly from full, chunky rhythm to articulate melody playing. Played fingerstyle, it has a gorgeous ring and sparkle, too.
