When it comes to designing his guitars, Irish luthier Drew Lowry starts with familiar dimensions—in this case, the mid-sized OM—but then reimagines them with curvier lines, a different waist shape, and clean aesthetics. This Carrick, named after a prominent landmark on the Co. Antrim coastline of Northern Ireland, was specifically designed with the fingerstylist in mind. Beautiful quilted sapele, related to mahogany, provides the focus and mid-range, but the AAA-grade Swiss moon spruce top and Drew's curvaceous design ensure a complexity and nuance you might normally associate with rosewood. Played softly or with a hard attack, this guitar provides a wide tonal palette to access for many playing styles.
This guitar came to us new and has not had any owners, but we consider it shop-worn. It arrived with a small, circular ding about the size of a medium nail head on the bottom side on the binding, close to the end graft. (We suspect that some jostling during shipment resulted in an impact between the case and the body.) We had it professionally looked at and determined that it was of no long term concern for stability or finish, and there was no way to completely remove all signs of it, so we're leaving it as is. It also has a ding on the lower bout bass side top. Please reach out for further in-hand description.
