Ken LeVan hand builds one-of-a-kind guitars and banjos from his home in the woods of Northern Appalachia! Often utilizing not just domestic woods but trees from very close to home, his tone and aesthetic has a clear wood-focused appeal. We had the honor of trying his guitars at the 2023 Artisan Guitar Show, and we're delighted to feature them on CVE!
This 00 combines sapele with western red cedar, under an ultra-thin and light French polish finish, giving this guitar a lively, organic sound and feel. It has the kind of pure, direct woody voice that makes it so appealing for plucky, rhythmic fingerpicking, with a chunkier mod V neck that should please both sides of the Martin/Gibson aisle. The "line and berry" inlay on the fretboard is a traditional motif used in 18th century furniture in Chester County, PA, giving this guitar even more local Pennsylvania flair! Accenting that is classic herringbone purfling and maple binding with a distinctive padauk bridge, wood pickguard, and multi-color rosette. The combined look really feels like a piece of Americana craftsmanship. Ships in a hardshell case.
This guitar is currently located with the luthier in Pennsylvania, USA. Shipping times will vary by buyer location.
