This left handed 514 model was made with a Sitka Spruce top and Ovangkol back and sides (a West African Hardwood). Ovangkol was used throughout this build, in order to give a clean uniform look with the head veneer, fingerboard, bridge and rosette also being made from Ovangkol.
Then maple was used to bind the body, and it was finished off with a Sycamore neck, to keep the colour palette of the guitar clean and neutral. This guitar has a strong, clear voice, the ovangkol adds characteristics similar to what Indian Rosewood would display, but with a little more mid presence and a little less high end chime.
Finished in oil and wax, it keeps the instrument light and resonant, with a soft satin sheen. Cryo-treated fret wire was used to provide longer lasting frets. Chrome Gotoh 510 machine heads with 1:21 ratio are use to give super smooth tuning, and as a final flourish an oak burl is used for the end graft of the instrument.
Comes with a JKM branded Hiscox Pro II Hard case.
