Handmade in Northern Ireland, this JKM Guitars 485w model is similar in proportions to an OM.

It features an Adirondack Spruce soundboard decorated with a Honduras Rosewood and abalone rosette, paired with a deep rich coloured set of Honduras Rosewood back and sides. The instrument is then topped off with flamed maple bindings, Tasmanian blackwood back strip and and inlays.

The unique X/Fan bracing pattern helps deliver strong projection and clarity of notes across the range, and can be suitable for fingerstyle and plectrum playing with its 58mm string spacing at the bridge.

The upgraded Gotoh 510 1:21 tuners in gold add a touch of elegance, which is complimented by the simple floral designed inlays in the headstock, 12th fret and bottom of the guitar.

The guitar is finished in Osmo oil and wax, producing a soft, satin sheen which feels beautiful on the neck to play, but also helps keep the instrument light and resonant.

It also features our elegant pinless bridge design in ebony, which matches with bound ebony fingerboard and head veneers.

The flamed maple binding is complimented with a figured Tasmanian blackwood centre strip, heel cap and inlays on the guitar.

Another upgrade is the use of cryowire frets, which are treated to make them harder wearing than standard nickel silver frets.

All of this is included with a JKM branded Hiscox Pro II hard case.

Seller Info

JKM Guitars is based in Northern Ireland, and is operated by Jacob Menear. Having learned his skills through University, undergoing a Bachelors and Masters degree in Musical Instrument Making in London, he then relocated to Northern Ireland to work at Lowden Guitars for seven years. Then, during 2020, JKM Guitars became official, and have been designing modern takes on the steel string guitar since, using 14 years of design and construction experience to make some of the finest instruments available. Using a hybrid bracing pattern which amalgamates the traditional x brace with the fan braces of classical guitars, the aim is to create an instrument that fits well with modern players. The body sizes are all unique as well, without taking inspiration for the standard American sizes of bodies, to produce instruments that are as distinctive and individual as the players that use them.
