It's hard to imagine a better guitar for the Celtic-influenced fingerpicker—and that's not just because walnut and redwood is a tonewood pairing that reminds us of Lowden! This small bodied guitar from Ohio luthier Jeff Jewitt takes inspiration from the classic 00. But with a more rounded lower bout and the 13-fret configuration, he achieves more of an OM-style voice in the intimate dimensions of the 00. If redwood can occasionally have too sharp and glassy a ring, this North American black walnut may be the perfect foil, providing just enough warmth and woodiness. Combined with a comfortable C neck profile, the end result is perfect for melody-centric players who want a more intimate voice with strong fundamentals. A rosewood fretboard and bridge, ebony binding, white purfling, figured myrtle on the rosette and end wedge, and Gotoh 510 mini tuners add, as Jeff says, "a dramatic touch".
