A masterfully done conversion 5 string Banjo! The neck was done by Ernie Wells in the early '80s who is known worldwide for his abalone inlay work and his banjo builds and this is a fine example of both! The banjo plays excellently with just the very beginnings of fret wear on the first few frets that doesn't effect playability. The tone ring was also changed from its original archtop ring to a flat top tone ring, trading some brightness for a fuller sound preferred by players like Earl Scruggs and J.D. Crowe. Speaking of J. D. Crowe, included with the banjo will be this banjo's previous head signed by Crowe, the original neck, and the original tone ring in its original hard shell case. This is a fine instrument with a great powerful sound.
Includes both the original case and a modern case for the banjo.
