Kent Everett built his final batch of instruments in 2022, so this is a rare opportunity to get one of the builder's fine handmade guitars! This 2014 Sofia model is beautifully crafted of California red cedar and specially chosen Indian rosewood. Kent notes that this set was sold to him as Cambodian rosewood, but we both speculate it's just an unusual Indian rosewood!
The Sofia model is just a bit wider and deeper than a standard OM, giving this guitar some added bass and volume while staying comfortable (also helped by the arm bevel, no doubt). Tonally, it has a well-rounded warmth, modest depth, and pleasing balance across the registers. Combined with the shorter 25" scale, it really shines played fingerstyle, but sounds lovely as a strummer, too. The side soundport immerses you in your playing experience, while the zebrawood accents add nice visual contrast to the dark tonewoods.
This guitar is in excellent condition, with the only repair of a recent neck set. Kent's original paperwork is included in the case, where he notes the bridge and pins are crafted of rosewood from Brazil, limiting transport of this guitar to the US.
