Innovative luthier David Enke explores a fascinating concept with his Light Body Guitars. This is one of only about twenty LBGs in the world and they are all prototypes in some way. His goal was to craft a durable, light and roadworthy guitar that could achieve everything from a pure acoustic tone to overdriven electric. Weighing about the same as a standard acoustic, it also features 12 sympathetic strings running inside the neck, adding even more harmonic complexity and overtones for the player to manipulate. When turned down, they still provide an audible sympathetic response, adding a subtle "sense of spaciousness". When turned up, they add huge reverb. The fingerboard radius, 1 7/8" width, and 25.3" scale length are designed to feel just like a wider-necked fingerstyle Martin Guitar, and can emulate the sound of an acoustic beautifully. But with amps and effects pedals, the tone can be manipulated just like any electric.

History includes a set-up tweak by David Enke in 2015, a refret done in 2016 by Mike Dove, and new pickups installed in 2017. It is in excellent condition save a small 1-2mm nick on the lower body that tracks where the saddle is on the stave—likely from the 2017 new pickup installation. No Certificate of Authenticity is included, but the builder can be easily contacted for further details.

This guitar is currently located with the seller in the US, and will be authenticated by CVE in Nashville before going to the buyer. Shipping time will vary based on buyer location.
