"I draw inspiration from the classical Italian violin making tradition, my training, and personal exploration and study of modern lutherie. I build instruments which are powerfully voiced, yet transparent to the will and skill of the player." Vermont-based luthier Joseph Campanella Cleary is known for his exquisite violins, modeled after the legendary work of Stradivari, Amati and Guarneri. He brings the same high level of craftsmanship and aesthetic to his mandolin builds, as well as to his rare archtops like this one. This 17" archtop (the only one he's ever made) is crafted of carved flamed Maple and carved European Spruce, and finished with a gorgeous amber French polish. It achieves a wonderfully balanced and woody yet rich tone, whether played acoustic or plugged in through the DeArmond-style Rhythm Chief 1100. As is the nature with Soft French polish finishes, some very minor signs of prior handling are visible, but nothing outstanding or in any way detracting from the quality of this stunning guitar. Comes with its original Hoffee hardshell case.
