Originally intended to be manufactured by Martin exclusively for the Chas. H. Ditson Store in New York in the 1920's, this model was designed to be the deluxe version of the Ditson dreadnought. Though on the drawing board, the plan never came to full fruition, so many years later Martin released a very limited number of these 333 "reissues." This example features a shaded Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, ebony pyramid-style bridge, and a 12-fret dreadnought body. Tonally, this guitar is bass-heavy and responds really well to big strumming and flatpicking. The bridge has been reglued and the saddle replaced, but otherwise this example is largely unaltered. There is some slight heel separation, but it doesn't pose a major cause for concern. This piece is structurally sound and plays just fine! It also features an added under-saddle pickup, ready for different playing situations.
