Product Code: GF3671
Although not the cleanest example of a mid '30s Martin, this 1935 is one fantastic sounding D-18! The guitar produces a nice dry tone with great projection.
The fingerboard has been replaced. The neck has been reset. The bridge was replaced by luthier John Arnold. The tuner holes in the headstock were once enlarged for Grovers; they have been plugged and redrilled for the current tuners (work by John Arnold). A "popsicle stick" brace (above the soundhole) has been added. There are two top cracks under the pickguard that have been repaired with reinforcing strips. An oversized pickguard was installed sometime in the 1960s. Several cracks have been repaired on the on the treble-side rim, the back, and the rim on either side of the endpin. The inside rim on most of the lower bout has been covered with reinforcing cloth. The back appears to have been off the guitar and reinstalled using Titebond glue. The back cracks, which are very prominent on the outside of the guitar, do not show at all on the inside, suggesting some sort of veneer work. The top has been refinished. The back and sides were oversprayed some time ago. The finish has been removed from the back of the neck.
