Product Code: GS5159
Fender's Stratocaster, specifically the models built prior to 1965, are widely considered by many to be the holy grail of electric guitars. Upon the introduction of the first solid body, the Esquire (Telecaster) in 1949, there were requests for a slightly more contoured body shape and additional bridge saddles for better intonation. Thus, the Stratocaster was designed in 1953. This particular example has an extensive list of repairs and modifications, but it is still a solid playing instrument!
The body itself has been thinned and refinished twice, starting out sunburst, then blue, then back to sunburst. Whoever did the refinish did it really well, as it is very convincing and hard to tell in person. The finish on the back of the neck has been worn through and oversprayed, but it still has a comfortable worn-in feel with a profile similar to a 60's neck. This example has a number of replaced parts including its headstock decal, pickguard, wiring harness, pickups (now Kleins), tuners, and two knobs. It is also missing its back cavity cover.
The refinish shows some signs of wear now, mostly concentrated around the body edges, but there is no significant damage to note. This piece was formerly owned by John Osborne.
