The CW was named after Clarence White (and later changed to Collings Winfield), one of the earliest and most influential flat-pickers, as well as a member of the Byrds. Like Clarence's personal guitar, the CW features an enlarged soundhole, which provides provides great clarity in the trebles, making for a guitar that is powerful but yet balanced.

This CW features an Adirondack spruce top over Brazilian rosewood back and sides with a fossilized ivory nut and saddle. The rosewood came from the personal stash of luthier John Holman, and these early Collings-Holman examples are highly sought after. It is in outstanding condition with no fret wear or damage to note, only an added K&K Pure Mini Pickup,
