This 1986 Fender American Vintage Stratocaster comes from the early years of Fender’s post-CBS rebuilding period. The American Vintage series played an important role during this era, reestablishing many of the construction details and styling cues that players had been requesting throughout the late 1970s and early ’80s. Finished in Sunburst, this example captures much of the look and feel associated with pre-CBS Stratocasters while carrying the cleaner fit and finish typical of Fender’s mid-1980s revival period.
The alder body, maple neck, and vintage-style tremolo give the guitar the familiar snap and dynamic response expected from a traditional Stratocaster layout. Its three single-coil pickups retain the bright attack and scooped midrange character that helped define so many notable recordings. Compared to later reissue models, these early Corona-built American Vintage instruments have developed a following of their own, particularly among players who appreciate Fender’s transition-era guitars from the Dan Smith period into the company’s modern production years. The finish and hardware have aged naturally over the decades, and there are notable dings and spots of player wear throughout.
Includes 60s Fender hard shell case.
